During the time of the OJ Simpson, my father lived in Los Angeles. Since most of the t.v. channels were passing the OJ Simpson trial, my dad knew the the jury was going to be presenting him as innocent, even though he knew he was guilty af. He told me years later that the jury although thinking that he was innocent, h\they were afraid of another riot happening in L.A.. Therefore, preventing another riot, they decided to verify him as an innocent man.
That's actually really interesting, Angel. I think it makes a lot of sense, considering that the trial was broadcast on national tv and the defense case was police conspiracy, it was very easy for people who harbor bad experience with police to sympathize and empathize with OJ. If they were to say he was guilty, the black community must have felt cheated and possibly resorted to a riot.

It is laced with sarcasm, but you can see the emotions in the article. You can see how the writer is making fun of how ridiculous it was for people to say he is innocent in order to avoid a possible riot.
