OJ Murder Trial v. Armed Robbery Trial

While watching the follow up documentary on OJ, all I could notice was his emotional response to his conviction of armed robbery. While on trial for double murder, there was no emotional response. We never saw him shed a tear for his late wife. Whenever he was interviewed all he discussed was how this trial has negatively affected him, never once showing any emotions after his wife was brutally murdered. Throughout OJ Simpson's initial trial I was never sure whether I believed the defense or the prosecution. After seeing this great display of emotion throughout the armed robbery trial, I now believe that his lack of emotion during the trial for his murdered wife, is the most incriminating piece of evidence.

  1. I agree with this. It is always so clear right from the beginning when the killer is the husband/wife/ex when they clearly do not seem sad after hearing about their dead significant other. If someone hears that someone important to them dies, there should definitely be a reaction of some sort. OJ didn't show any emotion and the emotion he did show was cowardly and innapropriet in the court room like he was so shocked he actually won. What also made it obvious was when OJ was in the car where he talked about committing suicide which makes it clear he feels guilty and thinks he is going to get caught.

  2. Avery, I noticed the same thing. While watching the first documentary, I was confused as to how he reacted to certain questions, but I was still unsure whether or not he committed the crime. This comes to show how reasonable doubt can factor greatly in one's final opinion. Evidence of this was shown in the jurors' final decision when they declared Simpson innocent. Although Simpson's persona and all evidence pointed toward his guilt, mishandling of evidence by the police was enough to declare his innocence.

  3. I definitely agree. I think he was so focused on trying to look innocent that he completely disregarded that the mother of his children was actually dead. Until the point where he was in trial for the robbery charges, no emotions were displayed, like you said. I found that, also, to be convincing that he did murder her and Ron, and since the whole murder trial was over, he just let out the emotions in the robbery case.
