The Planned Parenthood shooter is NOT transgender..if anyone was wondering..

On the topic of the Planned Parenthood shooting last week...
I was looking through articles online to find out the details on the shooting, and I stumbled across an article titled “Surprise! The Planned Parenthood Shooter is NOT Transgender.” I found this kind of disturbing, not because the possibility that the shooter is transgender, but how that is what the media decides to focus on. Does anyone really care that one year when he voted he was registered as a woman? This is what sparked the research into his background to find out if he was previously a woman. I personally do not find that interesting or relevant at all, and I’m kind of aggravated thinking about the amount of time and effort that was put into writing the article. There have been over 350 shootings this year, most of which have not had major media coverage, and yet they decide to focus on figuring out whether or not this man is transgender. Even if he was, why does the media think that it is up to them to expose him?
We need to be spending our time figuring about the topic of gun control and how to stop these mass shootings from happening...Thoughts?

  1. I agree with you. The media is constantly trying to hide what is really going on from the public.

  2. Why is it though that so many shootings have happened, and some of them so close by and the media does not shed any light on it? It is really scary to think about all the information that is hidden from us, and it is hard to believe information on the internet because as you said, the media focuses on irrelevant topics about the person that has nothing to do with the issue.

  3. I totally agree with you. It seems that media is always trying to make a stamp on cases but never for very good reasons. For this case they decided the highlight if the shooter was Transgender but my parents said during the OJ case media was also a huge deal. They said many times media would shed light upon the attorneys and their outfits and what shoes they were wearing. It became more of a way to diss the court on irrelevant matters rather than highlight the serious issues going on.

  4. I feel the same exact way! I feel like the media wants to manipulate us into thinking some "issues" aka like with celebrities are more important than the real things that matter for us in the future. Does the sexuality of the Planned Parenthood shooter matter? What would that have changed about the situation? Nothing.
