Case Studies

One of the things I'll always take from global is all of the case studies we did. From Andrea Yates, to Von Bulow and even OJ all showed me how the justice system worked and how it can be corrupt. Andrea Yates drowned her children in a bathtub because she feared that her children would think she was a bad mom. She pled not guilty because of insanity and the judge agreed, he said she needed help and she was only charged with 2 counts of capital murder. In this case, the courts did their job and they acknowledged that she killed her children, but they also accepted the fact that she has a mental illness. I think this case was the most effecting on my life because many people try to plead insane and in many cases it doesn't work. The court did their best to make sure Andrea's sentence reasonable and that's how I like to picture my justice system, fair.
