The Latino list
The Latino List was a documentary that I could really relate too. I was born and raised here in California but I was raised in a Mexican household. Growing up was hard when I was younger because I had to learn both Spanish and English. I felt like I had to conform to American culture but still say in touch with Mexican culture. In the documentary John Leguizamo explains a time where he was asked to have a more heavy Mexican accent for a role. For us Latinos it's hard to find a balance between your families culture and the culture you are surrounded by. For example, if I went to my families hometown in Mexico, they would consider me "white-washed" or "Americanized" and in America I'm not considered white enough. It's a challenge for a lot of Latino people to conform like Pitbull, singer, and American Ferrera, actress, they had a rough time coming up in the industry. This docutmentary made me realize have far I've come to find a balance between the two cultures.
