"Beautiful Minds" Reaction
This documentary was really personal and well made. I could really feel how important the topic is to Caden. Being an elementary school volunteer myself, I understand a lot of what he is talking about. When I was volunteering for kindergartner last year, there was a boy who was physically disabled, and although the teacher tried to include him into class, he wasn't full included with the other students. This documentary also reminded me of how being an English learner, I was put into Special Ed classes in elementary school. I always felt like I was different from the other kids and the teacher always gave me "easier" things to do or did not push me to work as hard. And that's just me being an english learner. Imagining that for a kid with Autism and how they are treated is heartbreaking. Of course, the teacher tries their best to include them into the classrooms, not all teachers are trained for it and often time they do get left out. So personally, I felt like Caden's documentary really stuck with me, and I really like how he used his interviews. It really enhanced the documentary.
