We live in the mecca of technology. The internet and technology play a huge role in our lives especially being in the Silicon Valley. There's many pros that go with technology like the new approach to education, it is a completely different way of learning than it was 15 years ago. It has also made networking and communicating a lot easier. For my senior project when I lost all of my interviews I was able to FaceTime a lady from Trinidad that I had never met and I was able to speak with another man who lived in Fredriksted. Without technology and only relying on in person communication my project would have been impossible.
Although, because our generating and the coming generations rely on technology so much, when can it start hurting us? After Raphael's presentation he said that he went 1 weekend, only two days, without the internet and he said he felt so alone. These days kids are so connected with their devices that it gives them comfort to constantly be texting someone and have 600 Facebook friends when they only know 300 of them. This is somewhat comforting to the new generation. So many kids these days use their phones as a defense mechanism and don't know how to have face to face discussions anymore. When something gets awkward or they feel uncomfortable in a situation they can easily hide behind their phones. At restaurants or coffee shops it's rare to see any young person alone just sitting and being content, they're always on their phone because it is "awkward" to be alone?
