Turkey's Position

In class when we were talking about the Armenian Genocide it made me realize how much politics is so much more important to governments than individual people. The fact that the US, which is denying the Armenian Genocide, is what is restricting any punishment and embarrassment to Turkey that is needed and to help the Armenian people the right to grieve. However the reason why they aren't admitting to it is that Turkey is a well placed country that is needed to help the US combat ISIS. I believe that Turkey is indeed needed to combat ISIS and the use of its airspace as well as humanitarian services there. This is why we need to keep denying the Genocide but not forget it. It's a century old conflict and the current conflict in the middle east is more important at the moment however. After however we can turn back on Turkey and stop denying the Armenian Genocide

  1. I think this is a good example of how complicated worldy affairs are. In order to keep one peace, we must deny another. It's unfortunate, but I do not think there is a way to avoid it. However, I find it embarrassing that our country would deny something so obvious and so upsetting just to keep peace with another country. At the same time, I would not want to disturb the peace between us and Turkey. It is definitely complicated.
