Women
Although, I agree with a lot of what is said in the movie, Miss Representation, I don't like how biased it is and how it is presented to the viewer. They present a very extreme side of feminism and never show girls who maybe feel the same pressure but deal with it differently than eating disorders and cutting themselves. They show a very sad side to women and not the healthy side that should be promoted. I believe there is unfairness in everything, not only just for women but for men also and different ethnicities. You can't get rid of all of the influences and the media that is said to be ruining young women. Instead I believe it is about just changing the mindset of women and how they interpret the media and the negative unrealistic influences. Feminism groups and this video highlight a lot of the negativity circulating throughout society, instead of creating a more optimistic and positive outlook. It is impossible to take back how extreme media has taken women and their body images and it will only get worse as technology advances. I think it is more important to make girls realize that what is portrayed is unrealistic. Because media is looked at so heavily I think they should change the focus from the Kardashians, that reconstruct their whole faces and body's because they aren't pleased with it, instead highlight and bring attention women who are confident and aren't consumed in tweaking their image such as, Amy Schumer.

This is probably my favorite blog post by far. I couldn't agree more about what you are saying. Time and time again we hear the same thing about how women are treated unfair, but some of it almost sounds like complaining to me. Of course there are extremely serious things like equal pay and sexual harassment of women, but thing like complaining about women not being the protagonist in movies seems just ok come on. We also constantly hear about how the media and magazines and all of this is what is making girls cut or have an eating disorder, but this almost seems ignorant to me every time I hear it. There are so many other factors that could influence these things in girls that maybe media honestly isn't the main problem, or maybe if it is, like jess said, we should be focusing on trying to create a much more positive way to present it and fix it rather than the same old videos of interviews of women sounding so whiny.
