Child Abuse Leading to Serial Killers
Earlier in the year we learned about what goes on inside a serial killer's mind, and even looked closely at their genes searching for any difference between them and a normal minded human being. In searching, we found that all serial killers had a certain gene, called the warrior gene, that allowed them to have a short temper and a clear conscience when killing or doing harmful things. We also saw that there are people out there who are not serial killers but have this gene as well, now why is this? In order for people with this gene to switch from a normal citizen to become killers and felons, there must have been a serious trauma somewhere in their childhood, and this is where child abuse plays in. Statistics show that most serial killers were either mentally, physically, and/or sexually abused while young, therefore when this trauma mixes with the warrior gene, it switches these people's mindset to become killers without a conscience. Child abuse is a very serious problem and needs to be addressed and stopped because the trauma that those violated endure has great effects on them later in their lives, which effects not only them, but everyone around them.

I found the same thing very interesting. I think its crazy how someone can have the same genes as a serial killer but never become one. This shows that for some people it takes more than messed up genes in order for someone to actually be considered/do serial killer actions. I think it's sad how someone born with the wrong genes could have been considered a "normal citizen" their entire life if it weren't for their parents abusing them while they were growing up. If you actually think about it, this mean parents have the potential to either help contribute to their child's craziness or help keep their child sane.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can think of when I read this is what can we do from this point on? I'm not sure how we could prevent something like this, but there must be a way to help people more than we have in the past.
