HIV/AIDS

Homophobia was/is associated with the worship of idols, which was/is frowned upon by certain religions. When people became ill with HIV, the government did not put any money into finding a cure because those catching HIV were gay, and being gay was considered a disease. They did not have an incentive to find a cure. Some people believe HIV/AIDS can only affect gay people. This shows there is a lack of same sex education in schools.
