"Picture Imperfect" Reaction

MJ's senior project really hit close to home for me. Growing up, my dad was an alcoholic. He was never really "there". He was abusive and often time took his anger out of my mom, my brother, and I. When my parents divorced, my mom had to take care of my brother and I. It was hard. Even when my mom got a new boyfriend and moved in with him and his family, we never really connected. Hearing other students personal story and what they went through made me feel like I wasn't alone. It's shocking to know that 35% of families out there are single-parent family. It's very hard on both the children and the parent. And I think in the end, MJ also makes a great point. People who have a normal family and have both of their parents are very lucky because we never got to experience that. But nevertheless, we are able to make what's best out of what we were given.
